Apothic Red 2011

 Photos;Shandra Beri

Now, some people out there in 'Wine World' are throwing down some smack about my girl, Apothic Red. They call her 'unsophisticated' and 'geared to a younger demographic' as though she's sporting high fructose corn syrup and a covert jigger of Red Bull.

To them I say, 'Step away from the crack pipe, grandpa...'

This, my darlings, is my go-to every day red (you can tell I'm smitten because I had her pose twice!). Dark, fruity Syrah, whispers of brambly, spicy Zinfandel and the smooth elegance of Merlot. This girl is bright and fruity without being too sweet (I think I've heard myself being described this way...). The tannins are silky and the price point is a knock out (less than 9 bucks!). It's yummy when cooled, pairs well with a wide array of foods and easy enough on the wallet to bring a few bottles with you to the next dinner party!
