  1. I tried hard to find any clip of Deanna Durbin singing a duet with Jan Peerce- and can't. This will have to do. When her voice coaches weren't messing her up- her voice was spectacular.

    1. This link was great so I watched Deanna Durbin in "Spring Parade". What a doll! The film was so-so, but she was so genuine and sassy, that I enjoyed it nonetheless! Thx!

    2. Do you like Ray Bradbury? If so, find the short story "The Anthem Racers" (pretty sure.) Yeah, there's a link.

    3. Wait- are you telling me you were unfamiliar with Deanna Durbin?? 8-) True- she's an enormous Hollywood story that people didn't much like to talk about- but-

  2. No, not unfamiliar- the films she did just never captivated me so I didn't delve. When I checked out her performance in "Spring Parade", I realized I'd been mistakenly dismissive!

    1. Ah. Whew. :-) She did indeed make a bunch of lousy movies, including some with lousy singing, when she was working with an idiot voice coach. But there are also a number which are exceptional; and a number which are fun though flawed. I've seen only a few. My favorite; "It Started With Eve", with Charles Laughton having a blast. Both "Lady On a Train" and "Something in the Wind" (Jan Peerce duet; fabulous) have some delightful numbers, and some absolute stinkers, but are watchable.

  3. Ray Bradbury? That's a rhetorical question, right? ;p

    1. Well, hey, ya never know. :-) Looked it up, not feeling comfortable, it's "The Anthem Sprinters", which somehow was also made into TV; which I wouldn't watch on a bet; can't imagine it translating.
