In One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez (a book you MUST read, fetuses...), there is a character called Remedios the Beauty. She is so ethereal and not of this world that one day while she is hanging laundry, a gust catches a sheet before she can put it on the line and she is carried up into the endless blue sky by the wind. Her family watches in amazement.
Above is Andrej Pejic who is looking fabulous and stirring the pot at the same time (my favorite combination...). Andrej was born a boy but has pulled free from any cliche masculine tethers and is enjoying blazing the trail for all future trans super models.
“I know people want me to sort of defend myself, to sit here and be like, ‘I’m a boy, but I wear makeup sometimes,’" said the 20-year old. "But, you know, to me, it doesn’t really matter. I don’t really have that sort of strong gender identity — I identify as what I am. The fact that people are using it for creative or marketing purposes, it’s just kind of like having a skill and using it to earn money.”
Nice. I like that the world has become an interesting enough place to let Andrej Pejic live outside of externally imposed ideas about who he is.
According to ADEEN, the manufacturers of the hat, the letters are nothing more than an acronym. “The C*NT hat pays homage to RuPaul in general and the message from his show, Drag Race, that one must always have Charisma, Uniqueness Nerve and Talent!”
Now, I love RuPaul, but girl, puh-leeze- in this case acronyms are for pussies.
